Let's show Sofia and Katherine who we Kiwis really are!
Auckland
We all love our country. We all love the Kiwi way of life. And we'd all agree that our little piece of paradise is worth sharing with guests to our country, right?
Well the answer for some of our fellow Kiwis, it seems, is no. Indeed, two young sisters: Sofia and Katherine, visiting our shores recently were assaulted in what they feel was an unprovoked attack
The girls’ only crimes were talking in their own language whilst shopping at a local mall. In other words, the Sofia and Katherine were doing exactly what you and I do every other Saturday.
These two sisters were the victims of a seemingly unprovoked attack by locals in broad daylight. The assault was so vicious that younger sister, Katherine, was left with three broken bones in her face. Her injuries are so severe that she may require surgery. In fact, doctors have advised her that for now she cannot fly and cannot go home, prolonging her agony.
Are you ashamed? Yes? Me too!
While we've let Sofia and Katherine down so far, it's not too late. We can still show the sisters how big our hearts really are, and that us Kiwis are actually a very hospitable bunch. Let's give the girls something more than just physical and mental scars to take home. Let's open our wallets and show them who we Kiwis really are!
I am an active in the Colombian community here in Auckland and following this unfortunate event I have become a friend of both Sofia and Katherine
Funds raised will help cover any shortfall in their medical expenses that Acc or NZ do not cover, living costs while (Katherine is) stuck in NZ and to cover lost income while they recover from their trauma.
Per Sofia:
ACC is covered her expenses but about medication, transportation and I need to start a concussion treatment and I’m not allow to go to work so this is the reason Fernanda wanted to help my sister and I.
