Zeal Hawke's Bay Design Box

We propose to activate a “Design box” focused on offering pathways to employment in ‘new tech’ areas including graphic design, web design and photography. The Design Box would serve as a design hub for young creatives, teaching them skills for future work. Zeal sees Taradale as a prime location to activate this box, because 1/3rd of Napier young people reside in the Taradale / Greenmeadows area.

The unit will contain three high-end design computers and will be fitted out with ultra-fast broadband Internet connection. It will also be equipped with a fold up/down table offering the ability to host creative classes by day, and mini exhibitions by night.

Zeal will launch the Design box to be a fully functional social enterprise, offering clients advertising and comms advice from young people trained through the project. Zeal expects this unit to train 30 young people over the year in these disciplines.
