Developing Men of Valour Tour 2020. A movement to inspire, impact & positively change the lives of our young people and their whānau.
Hawke's Bay
Our Developing Men of Valour tours are a movement to inspire, impact and positively change the lives of our young people and their whānau.
These tours are designed to share life changing experiences, pay homage to our Men of Valour, connect with our history, our ancestors and participate in cultural exchange as part of our educational advancement. The opportunity to be able to travel overseas and connect globally is a highlight, but this trip is about much more. It’s about our students and their whānau connecting, building within our communities, aspiring to a positive future and DARING TO DREAM... BIG!
We focus on building our young people from the inside out by identifying and interacting role models, developing their mental wellness, physical wellness, academic pathways, character and work ethic.
Our rangatahi (young men) resonate with some of the challenges and battles that both the Māori Pioneers and Māori Battalion faced. They are encouraged and motivated by the bravery, comradery, passion, and integrity of these men in the face of adversity, trials, tribulations and victories alike. They see the sacrifices made on our behalf to strive for equality and a better future for generations to come.
This year our group’s primary destination is to travel to the Souda Bay cemetery in Crete, Greece to pay tribute to the history of our ancestors and we will focus on the examples of “Men of Valour” within the context of positive male Māori role models. A privilege to be able to learn our history.
We have also been invited back to Cassino at the request of IIS "Medaglia d'oro - Città di Cassino" school for further cultural and educational exchange and to teach Ki-o-Rahi to the Italian youth.
We are investing in our future and asking if you would do the same. Be a “TAA Change Maker”
Help our students experience positive change and reach the world. Thank you! Ngā mihi nunui!
Our itinerary is subject to flight and funding confirmation. Proposed travel dates: 5th December - 16th December
We focus on educational & charitable purposes within Aotearoa. Our primary focus is on Māori & Pasifika but not exclusive to these communities. We aim to provide resources, training & positive platforms.
Funds will be used to cover all travel and associated costs (ie: Flights, accom, passports etc..) If we don't reach our target our alternate travel option is to go to a location that we can afford.
