Help rebuild and make Peter's home safe again, after a devastating garage fire.
Christchurch, Canterbury
On the morning of February 25th, Peter’s dog, Moose, woke him with an urgent bark. Moments later, a neighbour called to warn him there was fire in his house and urged him to get out. Peter quickly grabbed his other dog, Shadow, and broke through the neighbour’s fence to escape.
Sadly, within minutes, the fire filled his garage and destroyed everything he owned. His home is now unsafe to live in, and he faces the overwhelming task of rebuilding his life from scratch.
This isn't Peter's first hardship. In 2018, he was in a serious car accident that left him with a head injury, causing him to stop working. For years, Peter has been unable to work due to his disability, and he was just beginning to recover and get back on his feet. Unfortunately, the fire has now set him back once again, as all of his tools vital for his recovery were destroyed in the fire.
Because Peter has been struggling with increasing living costs while on the disability benefit, his insurance lapsed, leaving him without coverage for this devastating loss.
We are reaching out to you for help. Your donations will assist in making Peter’s home safe again, repairing the smoke damage, and rebuilding what has been lost.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page with others or offering your support in any way would mean just as much. Your kindness and generosity are deeply appreciated. Every little bit of help makes a difference, and your kindness means the world to Peter and his family.
Peter is my eldest son.
