Dog Cancer Research NZ - help save dogs diagnosed with cancer

$725 of $25,000 goal
Given by 15 generous donors in around 5 months

Every donation brings dog cancer research one step closer to better outcomes and longer, healthier lives for our four-legged friends.

Auckland

At the start of March 2024, my husband and I found a small lump on the neck of our 2yr old dog, Tāne. Within 3 weeks, Tāne was riddled with lumps and had undergone two rounds of chemotherapy. He sadly passed away on 28 March 2024 of T-cell lymphoma.

The thought of cancer in such a young dog had never crossed our minds—especially in a dog who, even to the vet, appeared to be so fit and healthy. Needless to say, it was an incredibly scary and traumatic time for us losing our furbaby so quickly.

It's heartbreaking to think about other dog owners having to go through what we went through, and because of this I have chosen to raise money for Canine Oncology Research at Massey University. My goal is to raise the $25,000 needed to get The Hemangiosarcoma Project off the ground.

This project has the potential to make a real difference in the early detection and treatment of hemangiosarcoma — one of the most aggressive and heartbreaking cancers affecting our canine companions.

Your donation will go directly towards funding research aimed at finding a cure and/or treatments for dogs with cancer. By supporting this initiative, you’re not just funding research—you’re giving hope to dogs and the families who love them.

Together we can make a real impact to the lives of dogs and the people who love them, with every donation big or small, brings us one step closer to better outcomes and longer, healthier lives for our four-legged friends.

Thank you so much for considering this cause.

Cheers,

Nat

I reached out to John & Mari at Massey University after reading about John's research and speaking with a extended family member who knows John through studying at Massey University Vet School and gave me his details.

Use of funds

The money will be donated to Massey University, specifically to the vet school to be used for canine oncology research. My goal is to raise the $25,000 needed to get The Hemangiosarcoma Project started. If I fall short the $ will be added to the same fund.
