Doing it for Dalton

  • Home six months

It’s hard to believe it has already been six months since Andy returned home from hospital with a life changing diagnosis. But six months has passed, and Andy the kids and I want to thank you all for your amazing generosity! Without access to the unfunded medications (dabrafenib and trametinib- $5500 per month) we know that we would not have had this time.

Since returning home Andy has continued to slowly improve- his feeding tube has been removed and he is eating normally again, and a recent change of tracheostomy tube means he is talking almost effortlessly.

Along the way so many wonderful memories have been made.

At this point of the journey we continue with his current medication as longs as it continues to be effective. At that point there is still an unfunded immunotherapy option… but we will face that when it comes.

In the meantime thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the support and generosity you have shown us.

I was so pleased to hear from Katelyn and Nick that the meds have been working for you Andy. I'm sure it must be wonderful to be able to have a conversation, eat a proper meal and have the odd beer or two. Keep on staying strong Dalton family and continue making those wonderful memories xoxo

A massive thank you for the support shown to our family! We feel humbled that so many people want to aide us on this journey. We are learning to cherish every moment and enjoy the time we have. Emmy started school visits this week, it meant so much that Andy could go and watch her walk so full of excitement and confidence through the gate in her uniform. She has been loving practicing her writing with her Dad every chance she gets!

Yesterday Andy had his final radiation treatment to complete the course. What a milestone!!

The kids are loving trying on his radiation mask. The dogs are loving cuddles and having Andy at home (as am I!).

Thank you all so much for your generosity and support! We await the plan for the next step!

yesterday Andy was able to be discharged from hospital. He will continue his treatment as an outpatient with daily trip into hospital for treatment.

We also had our first outing- to watch Zavier play futsal. This was super special for all of us, but especially Andy and Zavier.

We thank you for you kindness and generosity!!
