For years, Rainbow Storytime NZ has been dedicated to fostering inclusivity, education, and joy through storytelling. Led by drag performers Erika and CoCo Flash, we have championed safe spaces for children and families to celebrate diversity and self-expression.
Now, we are taking a stand. We are launching legal action against Brian Tamaki and Destiny Church for their ongoing defamation, hate speech, and targeted attacks on the drag and LGBTQIA+ communities. Their actions—culminating in recent violent altercations involving Man Up, Legacy, and the Radical Youth Movement, as well as the misuse of the haka at Auckland Pride—have not only harmed individuals but also caused real damage to businesses and livelihoods.
This legal challenge is about more than just defamation; it’s about setting a precedent. It’s about ensuring that no one can incite violence, spread misinformation, or intimidate communities without consequences. We believe in a future where all people can live freely, safely, and without fear.
Due to overwhelming public support and requests, we have created this crowdfunding page to help cover the significant legal costs involved in this fight. Your donation will directly support our case and help us pave the way for lasting change in how hate speech and targeted harassment are addressed in Aotearoa.

Unfortunately all of our Meta social media has been permanently banned so the only way we =, ourselves, can share our story and cause is through our TikTok account. But you can help to spread the word by sharing our TikToks and any other posts we have that still have relevant information to your own socials to keep us current.
This is probably the most important thing for us at the moment.
Our goal for 2026 is to give our power back rather than publicise the terrible acts of this group which are ongoing.
We won't be sharing their name or what they are doing but we will be sharing what we are doing and the good we did before we had to take this pause. We no longer want to give them the power and attention they crave, lets' give that energy to the communities they are trying to affect!
