Help us to establish NZ's Centre for Environmental Justice

  • Great news

      12 December 2016

To those who have supported the Centre for Environmental Justice in its first baby steps on the journey - again, whakawhetai koe, thank you. I'm so excited to write to you and let you know that, behind the scenes, things have been happening, and we have great news.

The Law Foundation has said 'yes' to a grant application for 2017, which will pay for some time to research and write about environmental and eco-justice in New Zealand. The funding is for a short book that explains the ideas, looks at NZ's legal framework to deliver justice, and is an argument for seeing things as a bit more inclusive and interconnected: there are a lot of faces to justice, but the values are simple and universal.

This will become the first flagship piece of work for the Centre, and I am so grateful for the confidence and support of the Law Foundation in their decision.

Having this kind of external support helps us as we move to become more formally established. I'm looking forward to doing everything that I can personally to live up to expectations, and making the most of the opportunity we've been given in 2017.

I wish you all the best for the holidays, and a peaceful new year.

Meanwhile, if you would like to continue to support us through this page - please do. Donations continue to be welcome, and so far have meant that we can cover expenses - every one is a vote of confidence, which means a lot. And there are more plans hatching!

    Aroha nui

    Claire
