#walkforwonderboy , a journey to raise funds for young Elijah North to attend treatment in Sydney.
International
Elijah has been diagnosed with Microcephaly, which causes severe global developmental delay.
Further tests found Elijah had another genetic condition, causing further complications.
As a result he suffers from 14 health issues that affect most parts of his body, including two small holes in his heart.
If you have already been following this courageous wee man's journey, you will know that the treatment he needs is very valuable and essential to his development, but as is the case with most medical treatment it incurs significant financial costs to his loving family. Elijah has been incredibly well supported through fundraisers and the generosity of various organizations, friends and family but the time has come to rally the troops again to help lock in his next round of treatment at the amazing NAPA facility in Sydney.
Elijah's super parents Laura and Tane have committed to walking from Wellington to Auckland, in March 19 (walk details to be finalized soon), in a mighty 700km "walk for wonderboy" not only to raise funds for their amazing son and his next rounds of treatment, but to raise awareness of microcephaly and other genetic disorders.
Laura is a friend of mine and an absolute supermum at that. Being a mother also, I completely feel for her situation and would do everything in my power to help my kids, so helping her to do the same for hers.
Funds raised will go directly towards the ongoing and intensive treatment programs run at NAPA for Elijah's condition. Earlier fundraising efforts were successful in raising funds for one of Elijah's initial treatments.
