Help Eliza Fight This Cancer!

  • We have lost our Eliza

      3 July 2015

It is with the greatest sadness we announce the death of Eliza (Elizabeth) Karen Lindstrom, Mother to Demelza and Bianca, Grandmother extraordinaire to Quinn, mother in law to Ryan, loved daughter to the late Nancye, beloved sister to Terry, Christine, Val and Ross, gracious woman and, wonderfully whackiest friend.

Eliza had a long battle with this crappy cancer and she managed this journey with humour, dignity and grace to her very last day, which was Thursday, 2nd of July.

Thank you everyone who supported Eliza in her battle by donating through this page. Our family very much appreciate your generosity. They gave her 3 months and she managed to get 2 years. We believe your donations helped make that happen.

The balance of all your donations has helped us give Eliza the farewell she deserved. Thank you.

Ka kite ano Mummzy moo, Mama, Grandma Eliza, Pats, Princess, Eliza Doolittle, my darling.

  • The Battle Continues

Sadly the cancer is spreading. Eliza is trying a new mix of chemo to try and stall its progress. Her strength and dignity is an inspiration to us all. We need to keep up our support. Thanks everyone!

Eliza is caught in a real fight against this cancer. She is having chemo and while it is having some positive results by shrinking the tumours, it is making her very sick. Added to this is the stress of now living in an area prone to constant flooding as a result of the earthquake and no longer able to work f/time. That means Eliza is struggling to pay her rent and living expenses. As she said recently, ""I can no longer afford to live"". Anything you can do to help ease her stress would be greatly appreciated.

Sadly we have the news that Eliza's tumours have increased in size and numbers. The alternative treatments certainly slowed the cancer, actually stalling it for awhile, and gave Eliza some real quality of life over these last months. While Eliza's alternative treatment will continue, she is about to undergo chemotherapy. To help pay her rent and keep up the treatment, we need your help again. Anything, no matter how small, will help. Thanks from her family and friends.

Thanks so much everyone for your wonderful donations. Your generosity has been overwhelming. In just 3 weeks over $7,600 has been raised - wow!! You will have noticed that the website only publishes the last 20 donations so if your name has dropped off, please know that your generosity has not been forgotten. Great News!!! Eliza had scans done last Monday (19th) and the good news is that the tumours have only grown a millimetre!!!! That is after very aggressive growth over the previous period. So we are very excited and believe that Eliza's positivity and the alternatives she is using ARE making a difference. We will keep you updated as regularly as possible so please keep watching this space. Cheers Eliza and her family xxx
