    Just an update from us. We are nearly 6 months into the 2 year 8 month journey. We have been blown away by the kindness and amazing support we have received for Ella and our whole family . We couldn’t do it without you guys . It’s been a bloody rough ride but with the help of everyone we are doing well. Ella has been so strong and she amazes me each day as we go through this. Her cuddles and smiles get us through. We are taking each day as it comes and staying positive for Ella. We will do this and come out the other side. Thank you all again. Honestly it means so much that we have you along side us xx

  • Transition to Ronald McDonald House

    Hi everyone

    Thanks again for your generous donations. Here is just a wee update on Ella.

    Ella’s treatment plan has been going well. She has been filled with a lot of medication & fluids and been through several rounds of chemo, including a lumbar puncture where the chemo is injected into her spinal fluid. She is such a little trooper!

    They are very happy to have now been transferred to Ronald McDonald House where they can all be together. They also excitedly await the arrival of Olivia on Wednesday. Michelle said it was so lovely for Ella to get some fresh air (on their walk over) after being cooped up for 10 days.

    Ella will continue her treatment as a day patient at the hospital for the next 6 weeks. This means that Michelle and Darren will be responsible for her daily medications and monitoring her temperature.

    Ella is enjoying the play space at RMH and making new friends. All going to plan this is were they will be based for the next 6 weeks.

    Again, we are so appreciative of your support. It means that their income stream can be put to the back of their minds for now and keep them together as a family. Please feel free to share this page with your wider network.

    Michelle, Darren and their wider family have been totally overwhelmed by the messages of love, support and donations made so far. It really is a testament to who they are - such special people and friends to many.

    Here is a personal message of thanks to you all from Michelle & Darren:

    "We are so speechless with the kind donations that we are receiving . You never think you will be in this position and when your world has been torn upside down the very last thing you want to have to think about is having to still work and go through this.

    Darren is so relived that he doesn’t have to face working while this is all going on and can focus on Ella and getting through. In his words “I’m not coming home without my daughter“. He wants to be there every step of the way with her.

    The generosity received will make this happen and we can do it as a family. This money will help towards Darren not being about to work and also to assist people down to Christchurch that can help with our 17 month old daughter Olivia along side spending time with Ella; helping us keep her entertained and distracted from this ordeal."

    Thank you!!! Michelle and Darren are blown away with your generosity. Your support and love is so incredibly valuable.

    Many of you will have seen that Michelle and Darren have set up a dedicated facebook page for anyone wanting to follow Ella's journey more personally, but from time to time I will post general updates and photos in here too.

    A message from Michelle:

    "Wow my heart is so very full from all the amazing support we are receiving, it’s blowing my mind right now . Ella had an ok sleep, she was a bit unsettled to begin with as she had a high temperature after her 3 hour blood transfusion. The nurses were amazing and managed to get it down and once that happened she had a really good sleep."
