Help support Emma in her Stage 3 Breast Cancer battle
Auckland
Emma was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer, with localised lymph node involvement. Within 3 weeks of the diagnosis, she received a treatment plan of several months of TCHP chemo followed by a mastectomy and radiation.
She has been thrown from an extremely busy life running her business and being a solo mum to her boys, Frank (6) and Charlie (4), into starting the treatment plan straight away meaning financial support is immediately needed.
This family have recently gone through a very difficult time however they are happily settled in Devonport, where they feel safe and part of the community. They lost their home and much else during the last years and Emma is doing her best to remain strong, positive and has a clear vision of how to beat this cancer, while keeping the boys’ lives as normal as possible. Banded together, we also want to help keep this wonderful family in their rented home close to friends & family for support and in the village they so love.
Being a solo mum while receiving cancer treatment is going to be challenging, and Emma will not be able to work during this time. Additionally, the treatment plan involves unfunded chemo drugs that will cost upwards of $22,000. These pressures, along with unexpected healthcare & other related bills are making finances challenging. There is not enough income to cover all these unforeseen expenses, nor paid sick-leave.
Emma greatly appreciates any amount that you can spare to help them through this time.
Emma is too fiercely independent to ask for help, but this is a fight she can’t win on her own, so as her sister-in-law I am asking on her behalf. She will be beyond grateful for money towards her treatments and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Emma’s treatment includes TCHP chemotherapy, of which two drugs are not funded (Pertuzumab and Herzuma). While Emma’s family are supporting day to day expenses, these funds will be used to support this unfunded treatment as well as other medical expenses such as home nurse for IV fluids, nutritionist, physiotherapist, hyperbaric oxygen, and home support.
The journey isn’t over… just different 31 December 2023
I don’t know how to truly express my gratitude for each person who donated to my cause this year. I’m so blown away with your kindness that I sometimes don’t know how to really respond. Cancer is the hardest thing I have ever faced, but yet the one that has given me the most love and support. I feel relieved that the chemo and surgery parts are done, but so exhausted by this whole experience. I’m spending some time to rest and figure out next steps. Treatment will be ongoing next year but my body is slowly healing… actually my hair has just started to grow back! Hold your loved ones tight and look after your health in 2024 and beyond.
