Emporium was planned to be the new home of Emporium Brewing but it is also a fun place to visit for tourists and locals of all ages.
Canterbury
Laura and Paul recently moved from Christchurch to Kaikoura to setup a new business. After just a few short months of hard work their future is now full of uncertainty due to an earthquake. The magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck the north-eastern part of the South Island, New Zealand on Monday 14th November 2016. The quake cut all roads in and out of Kaikoura, including the main State Highway 1 along the east coast, effectively halting all tourist activity. Through-traffic is expected to be stopped for at least several months but likely much longer. Please show your support for them and the great ideas for their business.
Damage to their property and business:
Along the back where it runs alongside the creek it has subsided along holes 4 to 8 (mini-golf course). In some places the ground has moved sideways, and dropped quite a lot. There are a few cracks that are a meter deep.
The biggest disappointment is that they have been failed by their insurance company.
The donations will help them repair the mini golf because insurance wont help and to enable them to keep paying bills until they start getting income again.
Thanks for your support!

Located in the beautiful seaside town of Kaikoura on New Zealand's south island The Emporium is planned to not only be the new home of Emporium Brewing but also a fun place to visit for tourists and locals of all ages.
The owners recently refurbished the 18-hole mini golf course and work was in progress to open two Escape Rooms. They aimed to provide a range of activities here on dry land for when you are back from your ocean adventures viewing all the wonderful marine life Kaikoura has to offer.
I am involved because I am their friend and I have never seen so hard working people who decided to fulfill their dream of their own brewery. They are the most kind people and after the first earthquake they have opened up their home to a lot of friends who needed help.
Now it is time for us to help them.
THANKS 7 January 2017
We are so shocked by everyone's generosity, thank you so much for all the donations. We want you to know that it has helped us immensely, we would've struggled to get through these last few months without it. The mini golf course has been repaired and we are starting to get visitors coming back to town again, fingers crossed they will keep coming but at this stage it looks promising. Thanks again to each and every one of you that donated. Every dollar has helped keep us going, we hope that one day we will be in a position to pay it forward. Cheers, Laura & Paul
