Em’s MS Journey

  • The Recovery

Final update on Emma! We have been home from Puebla for nearly three weeks now. Emma is in lockdown resting and recovering. She has no immunity and has to be extremely careful of her diet/hygiene etc. She has lost all of her hair, hopefully growth will be quick… Although she is beautiful without it 😉.

We are extremely excited that this treatment will have a positive outcome and can’t thank you all enough for your support. It’s life changing stuff!!!!

We don’t know when Em will be able to return to work (or it may be that she changes jobs to suit her abilities) but we look forward to a bright new future.

Much love and thanks from us and Em.

  • The Battle Continues!

Wow it’s been a tough few weeks for Emma. We are over half way through treatment at Clinic Ruiz in Mexico and it’s fair to say Emma has been to hell and back 😔 Four rounds of chemo done, stem cells extracted, chilled and popped back in. She has been extremely sick like nothing I’ve ever seen before, and has nearly given up but somehow she dug deep and celebrated her “stemcell birthday”. Now she has extremely low white blood cells (very little immune system) and is high risk from infection. So we are in lockdown. Only allowed strict diet and lots of shots and meds. Lockdown also continues at home for over 3 months. 😢 If you are interested in reading more feel free to invite yourself to Ems MS Journey on Facebook.

    Muchas Gracias

We are all set physically for takeoff. Mentally is a different story 😬

We can’t express how grateful we are to everyone that has contributed to Emma’s journey.

We have a gala night at the St Clair Golf club organised by Rachel Bain who was her husbands support person for his HSCT treatment last year. There are wonderful raffles, auctions, live band etc if anyone wants to join us! Kick off is 7pm tonight. Cocktail attire. $60 a ticket 🎫 🍻 🥂

Em has a long road ahead of her, but with the awesome support from you guys she will come out a winner 🏆 #msf*ckedwiththewronggirl

Happy New Year to you all! Another massive thank-you to everyone that has donated, (money, raffle prizes and their time!) and helped with other forms of fundraising, selling raffles, cooking sausage sizzles etc, also for all the kind words of support. You are all truely appreciated.

Em has decided to start a Facebook page to keep anyone interested in her treatment progress in the loop. “Em’s MS Journey”

We will try to update it as much as possible as I know so many of you are interested in her progress 🥰

Her and I fly to Puebla, Mexico on the 1st March with treatment starting on the 3rd. It’s all becoming abit scary now but we know it’s going to be worth it.

Please keep sharing our givealittle page far and wide!

    Thanks,

    Em & Di

Hi there guys, Emma here. First of all thank you so much for all the love and support I have been shown. All of this would not be possible without it!

I have been doing a lot of different fundraising and we are slowly chipping away at our end goal. Mum and I have now been able to book our flights, we are leaving on the 1st of March and arrive back home on the 1st of April.

I will not be receiving anymore transfusions and hope I don’t relapse. Fingers crossed. Wishing you all a very Safe Christmas. Lots of love.

  • The date is booked! 🇲🇽 ✈️

    Hi Everyone,

Firstly a massive thankyou to everyone who has supported Emma. The kindness is overwhelming.

Emma had her 2nd to last infusion today as we have booked a date for HSCT! Very exciting and nerve racking.

A wee rundown on what’s to come for Em.

    Lots of paperwork! 📋

No infusions for three months before takeoff.

Putting some weight on. (We need to bulk our wee girl up!)

HSCT is a procedure that kinda goes like this…

stem cells are harvested and frozen, ❄️ while they are chilling out, chemotherapy is given over four days, this will completely wipe Emma’s immune system and essentially reset her.

Stem cells are transplanted back in her body through infusion and then she recovers. The most important part is to not get an infection 🦠.

Emma has a very long hard road ahead of her but as I’ve said from the start #MSf*ckedwiththewronggirl

Oh and it would be appreciated if you could share her page ☺️

    Thankyou all xxx 😃
