Erin met with Ehlers Danlos specialist, Dr Fraser Burling, in Auckland. Dr Burling advised that Erin is in urgent need of the surgery due to the severity of her compression, and the effects of collateralization towards her spine.
Any day now we should have a surgery date booked for early in the new year.

We recently traveled to Canberra for a surgery consultation. Although the surgeon is happy to operate, he recommended we meet with the Ehlers Danlos specialist in NZ first - to make sure surgery is the best option (since it is major surgery). We are booked in to see the specialist in November.
Erin has had a tough few weeks since we got back, spending most of her time in hospital. Although there are parts of her condition that may not be fixed from surgery, we believe it will reduce the pain greatly - and that's her main issue.

Great news for Erin! She is booked in for a consultation in Canberra at the end of September. We are hoping that will lead to surgery shortly after. She has been spending a lot of time in hospital lately, struggling to manage the pain and nausea - so we are really looking forward to this appointment.
