Raising funds to protect and preserve Eskdale Park, to ensure that the natural green space is not destroyed through commercial activity.
Hawke's Bay
The Hawkes Bay Mountain Bike Club, in conjunction with the Hastings District Council and Pan Pac, developed a plan to take over Eskdale Park as a hub and access point, for the mountain bike trails being re-developed over the river in the Pan Pac forest.
Stage 1 of the plan includes sealed parking for at least 200 vehicles. Two container buildings onsite, one for a café, the other for bike storage. A bike cleaning area. A 100m “pump” track, and a swing bridge across the river.
This was supposed to be completed last year 2020, without any consultation with the public. It has only been halted to date, by the opposition of locals, who now need your support too!
An important fact you may not know is:-
The Mountain Bike Club already has a Hastings District Council issued resource consent, for its’ hub and all requested facilities, secured in May 2020, on council and Pan Pac land just over the bridge on Waipunga Road.
The destruction of the wonderful green space that is Eskdale Park, is not needed for the Mountain Bike Park to go ahead.
We are Friends of Eskdale Park, a non-profit organization formed of locals who are determined to protect and preserve the park.
