EVERYONES MENTAL HEALTH HERO "ARCHIE" the magical cat 🐈

Introducing Archie,

We found him at the SPCA a couple of years ago and since then he has been doing his mahi supporting our guests and staff in a mental health respite in the countryside of the Nelson region.

Archie is our meeter and greeter, he goes to the carpark when cars arrive, says hello and then leads guests towards the house. He goes back to see staff off when they have finished their shift. If guests wish Archie will lay on their bed, sprawl on their lap, accompany them for a walk or he will just be. Archie just seems to know who is more in need and will sleep next to that person and give them the comfort they so need. Absolutely everyone who has ever meet Archie says he leaves a lasting impact on them, he's never forgotten. Returning guests usually ask for Archie as soon as they arrive.

Now that Archie is 10 and he has developed kidney disease and also had his front teeth removed, insurance won't cover him because of his age when he came to us. Archie requires a special diet and 3 monthly vet checks.

As Archie has been of great support to many it is now our time to support him to live his best life.
