Raising money to replace Johns possessions lost in West Coast Floods.

West Coast

John Hewer, my grandfather (81) has just been effected by the recent flooding in Haast, South Westland . The water went thru his house and was so high the water was coming out the windows. The flooding has completely ruined everything.

He has lived in this house for 50+ years and everything he has bar a few photos that were high enough on the wall has been lost or ruined. Family are rallying around him to get the house cleaned up, dried and back to a liveable state. But there isn’t a lot in the house that can be salavaged.

Due to where the house is situated insurance companies won’t insure the house or contents so it falls back on John to replace everything.

I am John’s granddaughter, we are trying to raise money to replace all of his possessions that were lost/ruined in the floods on the West Coast recently. Due to where he lives he is unable to get insurance so everything he owned is now having to be replaced.

Use of funds

We are hoping to raise funds to replace the furniture in the house (bed, drawers, lounge suite, dining table etc) Also replace his floor coverings, gas oven, washing machine and his only source of power his generator.
