    Unbelievable.

    I get the best call I could have asked for.

    Monday morning:

    "Hi, I work with Rangiora council (30min outside town) in the urban/parks sector and I think I found your bike in a bush"

    Unreal! I've went and retrieved the back and besides the breaks being a bit stuffed up, its as good as how I left it! Better actually! They put a better seat on it!

    Really I'm here to share 1 thing, I can't believe that the word got all the way out to Rangiora! the power of social media combined with the power of community in unstoppable!

  • When the community shows up

    Long day yesterday..

    A friend asked "are you still going to host the community potluck you have scheduled for tonight?

    "Of course. What better time to call on your community to come and show their love and support than in a time of crisis"

    And they did.

    60-70 people came, brought a dish, and we all ate together and talked about the good and the bad that shows up sometimes.

    Someone pointed the spotlight on me and said "can we just applaud the fact that Preston has been here since 8am sweeping glass and keeping his shit together so we could come eat?"

    It made me uncomfortable. And cry. Which I think I needed. Ideally not in front of 70 people, but maybe it was the perfect time.

    Everyone got to see how showing up is all it takes to encourage work like mine to go on. And that the work can be hard, but equally rewarding!

    Thanks to everyone who's jumped onto this journey and is pulling us back on our feet :)
