Extra Tutoring for Hunter Galaxy (Home schooled spectrum child)

Actually, Last July, Hunters daddy, and my beautiful son Tom, got hit by a truck outside our gate and died on the road.

Since then, Hunter hasn't had much zest for school work and I haven't had much zest for life.

We've tried to maintain a program but some days are too hard and some days he cant and then I cant and so I don't push him to comply because the fight isn't worth the fallout.

I just want to take a whole year off and let him play and not have to do anything.

Im still trying to get my charity fundraising Garage sale shed off the ground to raise money for tree planting projects so our lives do something that matters to the planet and thats been my focus on the good days.

We are going to sell everything we own then our home and move into the charity shed or into a tiny home beside it. Then once we've sold everything in the shed, and hopefully been able to get a hundred thousand trees in the ground, we'll sell that place too and move away somewhere we don't have to look at the road outside our gate and see the place that someone we loved more than everyone else, lay for his final hours outside our home.

    Thats all I got

  • Hunter Galaxys first ride on a bus

      17 May 2022
    Main image

One of the recent pictures shows Hunter standing neat the info centre and bus stop in Wanganui. He went on a bus with Great Nanna to Stratford so he could learn about what going on a bus was like so in the future he can go on his own and travelling on a bus will be familiar to him.

Hunter will be able to go on the bus to stay with one of the 2 people I have as support people that Hunter feels safe to be with. Apart from Great Nanna (My Mother who is 77) and our good friend Al ( 64) who lives in Stratford, I have Nobody else that gives me respite care. The trip to Stratford and back the next day was a success. Hunter got to sit in a single seat up the front of the bus so didnt have to worry about being sat by a stranger. Great Nanny sat a seat or two behind him so he knew she was there. He is sure he will be able to travel on his own next tme (we aren't sure so I'll probably follow the bus in my car)

  • Our funds account has run out

      17 May 2022

We are down to zero and i cant apply for the Extraordinary care fund again until July because I didnt know their year was based on the financial year and I applied in October for $500 to get us through to the end of term 4 last year so we have been a week with no teacher now until we can raise some more funds to cover her hours.

  • Hunter Galaxys Ninja Warrior Playground update

      20 January 2022

Just before xmas 2021 Winz brought xmas and birthday funding for children on the Unsupported Children's Benefit payments into line with children raised in foster care so we got a small payment toward Hunters xmas presents that I chose to put toward buying second hand and new Ninja warriors activity gear for him for xmas. A mate helped me dig holes and cement the posts in to hold it and we just need to brace the posts off the trees behind them and it will be up and running.

  • Hunters Trampoline

      18 January 2022

After I made a post to my friends and family about wanting to buy Hunter a massive trampoline for his birthday last October, Facebook picked up a key word which likely had something to do with me suggesting if anyone wanted to donate toward the Trampoline rather than send him money or a pressie they could donate through the fb fundraiser. Long story short, within 48 hours of posting it in a fundraiser, my friends and family from around the globe donated enough money to pay for the trampoline and my petrol to drive to Wellington to collect it. We dropped Hunter at Grt Nannas place and me and two mates spent 4 and a half hours putting the giant thing up. It only just fit the space on the lawn, I had no idea how big it was going to be. He cried when he opened his eyes and saw it there. Then he clung to his old tiny trampoline and cried again because he has this attachment to inanimate objects and didnt want to hurt its feelings.

He absolutely loves it! He gets his exercise and takes his Lullaby music toy out there and lays on it listening to the beautiful classical music.

I couldnt do these things for him without support from my wider community and extended family and friends and it makes my heart glow ( I cried) when all those donations came pouring in from around the world. Pic coming, Im on a borrowed computer at the mo.

  • Hunter has a new school room on loan from a mate

      15 November 2021

Exciting for all of us, small things that help the days function well.

Our mate bought a caravan to restore last month and had it delivered here and said we can use it as Hunters school room until he needs it.

We have been setting it up ready to start school today and its looking really good.

This has moved the school room off the kitchen table and out of the dining room here which is a BIG thing after years of shuffling the space to fit the days.

Im excited and it gives Hunter and Aimee a designated space to make and create in.
