Please help Fern to get the drug she needs to help her fight cancer!
Northland
Hi, We’re asking for help to raise funds for our mum, daughter, partner, sister and friend – Fern Morrell who is currently fighting stage IV colorectal cancer.
After close to a year of surgery and chemo we were all feeling positive for the new year. But we received some bad news before Christmas that the cancer had spread and she was given 12 months.
Good news – she can continue with Chemo and their is also another drug called cetuximab.
Bad news – cetuximab is not publicly funded and will cost up to $50,000 for 12 cycles of treatment including the cost to have it administered
There is no guarantee this treatment is going to cure her cancer, but there is hope it will stop or slow the cancer and maybe shrink it to a stage that she can have surgery to remove any tumours. At the very least the treatment will give her some more time – to be around for her kids for as long as she can.
As the medical situation changes, a different treatment could be suggested by her oncologist or other health specialists. She might therefore use raised funds to pay not only for cetuximab, but also for other medical expenses or to seek treatment overseas and to help meet her family’s expenses during this time. That is why we have opted to have an ‘open goal’ for this Give a little page.

Money will be spent on drugs that the NZ public system doesn't fund, other medical expenses including possibly seeking treatments overseas, and meeting family's expenses during this time.
*****UPDATE**** 11 August 2020
Good news - Cetuximab combined with the chemo treatment is working for Fern! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
We would like to thank each and everyone of you that have been able to give a donation!
Unfortunately, we still need to continue to raise funds to be able to have further Cetuximab treatment, so have reactivated this page.
Thanks again and in advance! ☺️☺️☺️
