What an awesome swim. This is one of my favourite events to be a part of. I was lucky enough to have my swim instructors Maxine and shantelle , helping and supporting me throughout the swim. So I felt very comfortable with them and it was an easy relaxing swim on a beautiful summers day.
We had a week of coming up with ideas for the issue of me drinking water while swimming. So Deena and Maxine had a brainwave and came up with the idea of using a COVID clear face mask. It actually worked and kept the water from getting in my mouth.
Back to the swim.
The organisers remembered me from last year and were happy to see me back again. We started off hard and fast and then I slowed down my pace when Maxine told me to. I kept changing my arms from high to short strokes with some kick in between. At the second buoy I was starting to get tired but I pushed through and used the 1 2 count in my head . Then I heard Maxine say only 50 m to go so dig deep and finish at your pace. Shantelle took my timing chip up as it was to far for me to get there. Mum and Auntie were waiting to help me out of the water.
I really appreciate all the help from my incredible support swimmers to my wonderful family without you all giving up your time these events would not be possible for me. Big thanks to the event organisers for allowing me to participate, I really enjoy being a part of these events and getting out there doing my thing.
