Developing the Wairarapa Fern and Thistle Pipe Band

The Wairarapa Fern and Thistle Pipe Band has been active in the Wairarapa since the 1960's.

We are focused on providing the Wairarapa community the opportunity to enjoy the sound of highland pipes and drums

A recent commitment to developing new learners has brought fresh enthusiasm to music that dates back to the 17th Century in Scotland.

We are keeping the tradition and skills alive for a new generation.

The band supports community events free of charge such as local Christmas Parades, ANZAC parades, Daffodil Day, Relay for Life, A&P Shows and various other local events when called upon.

The cost of buying and maintaining both uniforms and musical instruments is expensive. The band is determined to keep the barrier to learning low by providing them for members.

Thanks to our rejuvenation program we have a wave of new juniors coming through. We want them to have access to expert tutors to support them in their learning journey.

So we are asking for your support to enable the band to continue to grow and support our new junior base.
