Help us fight the 2,000+ Waimauku West Fast-track development: outside urban boundaries, in a flood zone, with no planned infrastructure
Waimauku, Auckland
Please help the Waimauku Community Association (WCA) fight Waimauku West Fast-track development and give our community a real voice before it is too late.
Despite strong opposition from Auckland Council and the local community, this 2,000+ housing development was approved into the first stage of the Fast-Track process. The applicant and his planning team are expected to submit their substantive application in September 2026.
We need to act now because once the substantive application is lodged, the community will have only a limited window to respond. Donations will help us get expert advice ready in time.
The development is outside the urban boundary, with no planned public infrastructure for stormwater, wastewater, water supply or roading upgrades. SH16 is already struggling. Adding 2,000+ homes at Waimauku West could add around 4,000 more cars to roads that can't cope today.
The area regularly floods. Building a large housing development on a hill next to the Kaipara River raises serious concerns about stormwater, runoff and downstream flood risk. It’s not only Waimauku that will be affected. This affects the whole Kaipara River catchment which covers Kaipara/Helensville, down to Kumeu/Taupaki.
Please help us in this David vs Goliath fight – to protect the future of our community by giving our community a voice.
Donate now so we can get expert advice behind our community’s opposition and fight this properly. All funds will go towards fighting the Waimauku West development.
Your donations help us fight the Waimauku West development. We need to raise $30k for lawyers & experts to prepare WCA’s official opposition on behalf of our members. More funds mean more experts, wider info sharing, & presenting our petition at Parliament
