Fiona and Marius support crew.

  • Fiona has been moved

      12 September 2019

Kia Ora everyone. Fiona has now been permanently transferred to Hutt Hospital in Wellington (Lower Hutt) She is now in a medical ward and will stay here until the rehabilitation process is finished and they are comfortable with her status. Its likely to be anything from 2 to 6 months but that could change. Its the question of how long is a peice of string. Everyone is different in the way they recover and Fionas brain injury was a big one. Visitors are welcome if anyone would like to see Fiona or Marius. Probably best to arrange timings etc in advance so as not to overwhelm. Fi does have some memory deficiet but she has recognized every visitor so far. There will be further updates next week or if there is any significant changes to advise you all. Thanks again for the support and for sharing the page.

  • Today's Update

      10 September 2019

Hi Everyone. Thank you all so much for your generosity and support over the last week. We have some more news about Fionas progress. At some stage soon..probably end of the week she will be moved to another hospital in the Wellington area. TBA. The reason for this is that she will need specialist rehabilitation. Fiona and Marius will be in the Wellington region for quite some time and once we know which hospital she is going to I will update you all. Once she has been moved visitors will be welcomed. With this type of brain injury it can be 2 or 3 years before the injurys settle and we can know what the extent of the damage is. Fi still has her sense of humour but parts of her personality are currently a bit different including her short term memory. The doctors say that there is some vision defect but they are not sure the extent. These are things we will find out over time and the rehab process. Marius sends his heartfelt gratitude to everyone.

  • Fionas progress update

      8 September 2019

Fiona has now been brought out of the induced coma and has been moved out of ICU into a ward. This is excellent progress

She recognizes her loved ones and is speaking as well as is expected. Marius along with everyone else is over the moon. There is a long road ahead in terms of rehabilitation and we still dont know why this happened or what the end result will be in terms of damage

She has a had a huge brain trauma and after this type of injury its expected to take a long time to recover. This is normal. Another update will be posted once we have any more news.
