On May 28 2016, I will join 849 other firefighters to climb the 1,103 steps of the Sky Tower to raise funds for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer NZ.
Otago
My name is Matthew Cullimore. I am a 17 year old volunteer firefighter from Oamaru in New Zealand.
On May 28th 2016, I will don 25kg of firefighting kit as well as breathing apparatus to climb the 1,103 steps (51 floors) of the Auckland Sky Tower. This is to raise vital funds for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer NZ (LBC).
I am the second youngest participant out of the 850 other firefighters, with some coming from as far abroad as Australia and the USA.
I am competing for the first time this year and wish to raise as much money for LBC as I can whilst also finishing the climb in a respectable time.
Already I have auctioned myself off in an "Own a firefighter for a day" sale. The winner 'purchased' me with a bid of $150 and I spent the day moving rocks and splitting firewood.
LBC receives no Government funding, so please donate to this huge cause!
