Without the surgery I cannot complete my degree in theatre and dance at Otago University and pursue my performance dreams.
Wellington
I have been dancing since I was 3 years old and it is one of my life’s greatest passions. However, in August 2018 I fell over ice skating and damaged a tendon in my wrist. I can no longer weight bare on my left wrist because of the injury and this significantly affects my life as a dancer.
The only way to fix my wrist so I am able to dance to my full potential again, is by having a reconstructive surgery. In the operation the surgeon will make a small incision in my wrist and release the tunnel surrounding my tendon, to relieve the pressure build up. ACC has refused my request to pay for the surgery, which will cost $6000.
If I exceed my target I will donate the leftover funds to a charity of my choice.
Date of surgery confirmed! 21 April 2020
My wrist surgery was postponed, due to the effects of COVID-19, however, today it was rebooked for the 14th of May. A huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far! Hopefully, I can raise a little bit more money before the day of the procedure.
