Fundraising for SDR surgery and NAPA costs
Nationwide
Fletcher was born premature at 33 weeks and experienced a long and traumatic birth. Fletcher received white matter damage around the brain, resulting in PVL. This resulted in Fletcher being diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, presenting as Spastic Diplegia, Llll.
Fletcher is 3.7 years old now and is the absolute soul of our family. He has brought us together in a way words can’t describe. Fletcher has a joy about him that radiates out and touches those around him. He is a motivated and driven little boy, who has exceeded all expectations from the onset.
Throughout this journey we have given 100% devotion to providing opportunities that will assist Fletcher in reaching his full potential, that will enable him to live an independent and happy life. However, New Zealand is very limited in what it can offer, which has led us to looking abroad.
Our primary goal is to raise funds to provide Fletcher the opportunity for a life changing surgery called Selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR). This surgery has the potential to enable Fletcher to walk independently. This surgery is performed in America by renowned surgeon Dr Park at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
Fundraising would also be used to enable us to take Fletcher to Australia for therapy intensives. Fletcher would attend the NAPA center in Sydney for a three-week program, where he would receive different therapy tools specific to his needs.
If our target is not met, all funds will still be used towards SDR and NAPA.

Superman working hard! 30 November 2023
Fletcher has continued to work hard behind the scenes and shows so much determination every week during his busy therapy schedule. Just recently, Fletcher and I have been in Rotorua to complete a three-week pop-up intensive run by Centre of Movement, an Australian based therapy centre, located on the Gold Coast. Fletcher has been working hard for three hours every day, five days a week, with a team of therapists using different therapeutic techniques and modalities based on his needs. Fletcher has been working on so many things, such as building strength, improving his mobility and gait, enhancing his coordination, and so much more. He has shown so many dispositions during this time and has made the most of the opportunity. We are so proud of you Fletcher!
What can I say, you are all absolute legends to us. We are so grateful for your support and appreciate the time and energy everyone invested into fundraising for Fletch. Thank you so much - Aroha mai, Aroha atu
