Yasmine Ryan tragically passed away yesterday (Nov 30) in Istanbul. Yasi was an amazing, talented young woman who had spent many years in North Africa and the Middle East as a journalist, investigative reporter and international correspondent. It is a terrible loss for journalism but an even bigger loss for her family and friends.

Yasi's devoted father, Tom, left on the first plane to Turkey last night to bring her back home to New Zealand.

This page is for everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Yasmine and would like to give their support to Tom and family during this very difficult time.

“Out there in the world inspiring others, including my daughter.”
“Yasmine was among the kindest, most courageous souls I've had the honor of knowing. She impressed me with her courage when I knew her in Tunis, and she inspired me with her zest for life and her insatiable drive to shine a light into some of the world's darkest places where many feared to venture. Her insight (and help on the ground) was also invaluable for me in getting my PhD research up and running in one of the toughest areas of Tunisia to operate. She was a good friend - one whom I only saw from time to time, but one who I had dreamed of getting to know more over the years. Talking to her always made me excited about life and about the incredible things the world had to offer. I will think about her often and miss her often.”
“Our thoughts are with you all at this very sad time. Much love Muggeridge Family”
“Thinking of you xx”
“Very sorry for your loss”
