Forego a Friday for the Friends

  • Final Update

      23 November 2018

    Dearest supporters,

This page will close at the end of November and we wanted to provide a last update.

Thanks again for all of your messages and contributions towards helping Paula and our family meet our funding goal. Being able to access Keytuda has been a game-changer. While Paula's cancer isn’t cured, it is stable and we hope for a very long remission period. Paula will continue on Keytruda for at least another year, in the hopes that her condition will improve further.

We are in a much better position than we were a year ago, and could not have achieved what we have without your help, so again thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

David, Paula, Liam and Kyzer (the dog)

  • Getting Back to it

      17 August 2018

Dear all, thanks again for all of your support over the last 12 months, it has been fantastic and a real help to Paula and the family. We have had a break from treatments over the last three months as we had a family holiday and also Paula had to have surgery to remove an unexpected growth at the base of her brain along with a round of radiation to clear up the site. She is now back to full fighting strength and we have started back this week with Keytruda treatments. Currently her cancer is stable and with the return to treatments we are hoping to see even more improvements over the next 6-12 months. As it would seem with this sort of thing, nothing happens quickly, so we will continue with the fight and obtain the best possible treatments for Paula.

This page is due to expire at the end of Nov or if our goal is reached before then. We will continue to provide updates and again thank you all so very very much for your donations and words of support.

    Thanks

David, Paula, Liam and Kyzer (the dog)

  • Stop the press, we have had a win

      22 February 2018

Forego another Friday for the Friends

Dearest Friends, Family and followers of our fight with cancer,

WAAAHOOO, stop the press, we have received the most amazing news this week. In short, Paula has had a delayed response to the Keytruda treatment. Her cancer has stopped growing, some larger spots have reduced in size and some smaller spots have disappeared completely. As you can imagine this news has turned our world upside down following the previous set of results that showed progression in the cancer. Our doctors have put this late response down to Paula having a slower than usual immune system, but now that it has responded the news can only get better. With immunotherapy, unlike conventional treatment, once the patient’s own immune system activates the sky really is the limit.

So to all of you who have donated towards our fight, you are all life savers, pat yourselves on the back and accept a huge hug from us. You are our heroes and we would not have been able to do this without your help. Your generosity has given Paula and our family a second chance and for that you will be forever in our hearts.

Paula will re-start Keytruda this week and all going to plan will continue to receive treatment for another 2 years with the end result being, hopefully, complete remission. This brings us back to the original plan at a cost of $90,000. Many people have already asked how they can help us, so we have reopened this page to allow further contributions and will continue to fundraise towards the target which will take Paula through to our goal.

You have all given so much and for that we are truly grateful, as we have begun to win the fight. If you choose to forego another Friday in order to provide Paula with a lifetime of Fridays, our family would again be eternally thankful for your support.

Love and hugs to you all

    David, Paula and Liam xxx

  • Page closing

      29 January 2018

Thanks again to everyone who has contributed with both messages and funds to support Paula and our family. As per previous updates, the Keytruda treatments have not achieved what we were hoping for. We have had Paula's file reviewed and are currently investigating treatment plans that will maintain her health and general wellbeing as we continue to fight for a positive outcome. If you would like to keep in touch please private message Paula on Facebook. Again, thank you all for the support that you have sent our family, it is awesome to know that you are all out there for us

  • Treatment update

      27 November 2017

Thanks again to everyone who has very kindly donated to helping Paula and our family. We have just completed a full round of treatments, but unfortunately the Keytruda is not working. Paula's file is now being reviewed by an international specialist as we look offshore to find a solution. We have decided to extend this page for a couple of months while we wait for a plan which may involve overseas travel and consultation.

    Thanks again from the Friends

      20 October 2017

Hi everyone, firstly a huge thank you for all of the kind words of support that have been posted along with all of the very generous donations that have been made. We are now well over 2/3's of the way to our goal and with a few more funds raisers to go I know we will get there.

Due to your generosity we have been able to start with treatments and I am very happy to say that Paula is doing very well. We will keep you all posted as things progress, thanks again
