Forever Trees Trust - Supporting reforestation projects across Kenya, Tanzania and Madagascar
International
The Forever Trees Trust is a not-for-profit set up to support a number of locally instigated reforestation projects across Kenya, Tanzania and Madagascar.
Currently we are working with seven very different projects ranging from mountain cloud forest, dry valley forest to coastal mangrove forests.
On all of these projects our focus is to work with the local people running the projects, to buy tree seedings from local nurseries, and employ people from surrounding villages to help wth the preparation, planting and ongoing maintenance and protection of the forests.
We are careful to only plant native tree species that would have originally been on the site so as to restore and protect original forests and wildlife habitat.
Just $2.50 is all it costs to buy a native tree from a local nursery, to employ people from nearby villages to help prepare the land, to plant the trees, maintain and protect them.
This works out to be an incredibly economical way to restore forests that will grow super fast in tropical regions, that can really improve livelihoods, preserve water catchments, protect wildlife habitat and of course absorb more carbon.
And most importantly, by working directly with the projects we are able to ensure that all of the funds generated by the Forever Trees Trust, will go to the projects.
- To buy tree seedlings from local tree nurseries.
- To employ people from nearby villages to prepare the land, to help with the tree planting and for ongoing maintenance and protection of the forests.
