Nat Morgan's family fund.

      9 December 2017

Wow it’s already December. We are so pleased Nat is with us for this summer.

Nat has been home living with her Dad and Flynn for several weeks now. She is doing very well. She has an appointment in Auckland this coming week to see her specialist for an update. Nat does still get confused about her illness, her capabilities and every day events. She has not yet returned to work and it’s unclear at this stage when she will be able to. This givealittle page is due to close at the end of next week. If you’re able to donate something here to help with Christmas for Nat's family then now is the time to do so. We will consult with the family and close the page next Friday I think.

The support given to the family has been heart warming and meant so much to us all involved. Thank you for your kindness. Julie Williams

Hi guys. Nat has been discharged from hospital nearly 2 months since her aneurysm.

She is back living with her Dad Phil and Eylish and Flynn are supporting them all with this arrangement. She is doing very well but as is common with her brain injury, is still very tired and easily confused. Her short term memory is still mixed up but lots of memories are gradually coming back. She cannot drive so is reliant on others to help out. Its such a big step to be home for all but there is still ways to go before a full recovery.

Thanks again for your support and donations are still being taken until December when the family and friends will review the givealittle effort.

Driving lessons for Flynn are on the Wishlist if anyone has time or a contact. Cheers to you all.

Nat is doing well. She is in Whangarei hospital in an assessment and rehabilitation ward. She still needs a lot of care, and gets easily confused. Her short term memory is a bit jumbled but each day something comes back. She needs to be reminded why she is in hospital regularly and needs constant reassurance that she’s in the right place. The family are hopeful she’ll get home soon and continue her rehab there but they will need a lot of support, continued monitoring and back up. Thanks again for all the support.

Nat has returned to Whangarei hospital to continue her recovery. She has regained full mobility and use of all her limbs. However her cognitive abilities are returning slowly. She can speak and laugh but she has some gaps in her memory. We are encouraged with how well she is doing but she has months of therapy and rehab ahead of her. It is a relief for her family to have her in Whangarei so they no longer have to travel or be away from home for long periods. Thanks again for your generosity in donating to help them all.

  • A month today

      18 October 2017

Nat has been in Auckland hospital for 4 weeks tonight. She is currently in HDU Neurological and making small steps to recovery. She has had the fluid drain removed from her head and hopefully today the nasal feeding tube. Eylish fed her, her first soft food meal last night. She has spent time sitting in a chair and despite the nurses growling, stood up on her own the other day! Determination plus!!

She has spoken in small amounts, the odd word, a wee phrase, so that is encouraging. Thanks again from the family for your continued support of them and Nat.

  • 3 weeks

      12 October 2017

Hi. It’s 3 weeks since Natalie had her aneurysm. She’s been in and out of Neurological Critical care since then. Today she is in the Neurological HDU ward. She has had a few set backs and a few steps forward. Today she was chuckling at funny stories and squeezing hands and frowning and smiling. However her speech had been stubborn in returning so the hospital had a speech therapist talk to her and she is going to work with Nat.

She has managed to sit in a chair a couple of times but gets very tired and spends a lot of her day sleeping and healing. The extended family have still been largely based in Auckland. So any of you reading this could share this Givealittle page to your friends and family and see if we can continue to help out the family in a practical way as Nat’s recovery is going to take time.

  • Wednesday 2 weeks on

      4 October 2017

Nat has regained some speech and today has sat upright in a chair. She has been trying to move her arms and write names. Small steps in the right direction after several tough days. Tonight marks 2 weeks since her aneurysm and 2 weeks since hers and her family’s life was turned upside down. They have been living on hope and love from everyone and with amazing care from the nursing staff and doctors at Auckland hospital since then and remain in Auckland by Nat’s side.

Kia kaha Nat. You can get through this at your own pace when your body heals xx

      2 October 2017

Nat has had a wee setback today. This is after yesterday when she was laughing, talking abit and sitting in a wheelchair and asking to get out of bed!! But then she regressed.

A CT scan showed some spasms in her arteries. They are treating it and hoping to correct that. She has been moved back to HDU unit to be monitored more closely. She is unable to talk currently and this was concerning the doctors. However she is gesturing and nodding and responding to questions. This setback isn’t unusual the doctors say so we’re hoping she’ll respond to treatment and keep making wee steps in the right direction again.

It’s our Nat’s birthday tomorrow so we are hoping for a good day for her and her family and friends.

Please keep her in your prayers and thoughts tomorrow 💕

    Hi friends and family.

Nat has regained consciousness for periods and has had a few good days of recognising people and trying to talk. Although it's been a bit mumbled and unclear at times. On Friday they sat her in a wheelchair for a while. However today they are worried about excess fluid on her brain, so currently Nat is undergoing her 3rd brain surgery to reduce this fluid and deal with any issues. There are good moments and bad ones and the recovery is up and down. The amount raised is so encouraging and it will go into Flynns account at the moment as Nat can't deal with it at the moment and will be used to help the family and Nat as needs arise.. They have been beside her bed for 9 days away from home.

Keep fighting Nat. So many people are wishing you well xx

  • Our Nat update

      27 September 2017

    Hi guys,

Nat is still in Auckland hospital, she hasn't fully regained consciousness although she has opened her eyes, responded to pain stimuli, and has squeezed hands when requested.Yesterday when asked, she told a nurse her name was Natalie. The breathing tube in her throat has been removed but she has still has numerous tubes and wires monitoring her every moment. The aneurysum she experienced was large and she had 2 operations on her brain to deal with that last Thursday.

Her daughter Eylish and her son Flynn are by her side, so they are not currently working. Her father Phil is also right there beside her and currently doing well but needs to return home to continue his chemotherapy treatment. Flynn and Phil are staying in the whanau house at Auckland hospital while the others are bunking in with friends.

Nat's brothers have been beside her bed but have both returned home to their jobs and families. Nat's mum has been in Auckland supporting them all. Brigette and Carol (Nat's friends) are also in Auckland helping and supporting everyone.

They are all so grateful for every little donation given so far and the family will administer the money as they see the need.

    Thanks again
