Community Free Shop in Auckland

The campaign’s goal is to secure a permanent space in Tāmaki Makaurau to operate a Free Shop. The shop will operate by receiving donations in the form of physical items (e.g clothes, toys, kitchenware, books etc) from people in the community, and then gifting those items on for free. Anyone can come to the Free Shop and take as many items as they want. We do not differentiate between want and need, we do not judge an individual’s circumstances, and we will not require anyone to show proof of identity.

First goal: $4380

Will let us rent out a large storage unit for 12 months. We will run a monthly market, in a different location in Tāmaki Makaurau each month. We will use the storage unit as a space to receive donations throughout the month, and to store items in between markets.

Stretch goal: $6600

Will secure us rental for 12 months on a small 8m2 physical storefront in Auckland central, so we can have the free shop open on a consistent weekly schedule.

Stretch goal: $22,000

Will secure us 12 months rental on a 95 m2 space with a car park so people can drop off and pick up larger items.

Stretch goal: $42,000

Will secure us 12 months rental on a 180 m2 space with plenty of parking.

More than $42,000 will let us offer delivery and pick up. And if we go scores above this we can look at buying our own space to secure the Free Shop permanently!
