Support 17-year-old weightlifter Ella as she represents New Zealand in Samoa and builds toward the Youth World Championships in Columbia!
Hamilton, Waikato
Kia ora and Talofa,
My name is Ella. I’m a 17-year-old weightlifter from Hamilton, and I’m honoured to have been selected by Weightlifting New Zealand to represent New Zealand at international competitions.
This year will be my second time competing internationally, with my next major event being the 2026 Oceania Championships in Samoa (24 April – 3 May). Samoa is part of the build-up for Youth World's Championships held in Colombia in July. These events are an important step in my journey toward competing on the world stage.
Weightlifting has taught me discipline, resilience, and belief in myself. Being selected to compete internationally reflects years of hard work, dedication, and commitment to my sport.
Representing in New Zealand is self-funded at this stage and competing overseas comes with significant costs, including flights, accommodation, transport, meals, travel insurance, uniforms, and competition fees. As a young athlete, these expenses place financial pressure on my family, especially my mum, who supports me every step of the way.
Any support, no matter how small, would mean so much. Your contribution will help cover these essential costs and ease the pressure on my mum, allowing me to focus on training, competing, and representing New Zealand with pride.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for supporting my journey - every donation truly makes a difference ❤️

A huge thank you from Columbia 🇨🇴 8 July 2026
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported Ella’s journey to the Youth World Championships in Colombia. Whether you donated, shared our posts, attended a fundraiser, bought food, a sponsorship shirt or lotto ticket, sent messages, or kept Ella in your thoughts and prayers, we are truly grateful.
Your generosity has helped ease the financial burden of getting Ella to the world stage, allowing her to focus on achieving a dream she has worked so hard for.
Ella has now arrived safely in Colombia and is settling in ahead of competition. Over the next few days, she’ll adjust to the time difference, complete her final training sessions, and prepare mentally and physically to represent New Zealand against the world’s best young weightlifters.
Please continue to keep Ella in your thoughts and prayers as she steps onto the international platform. Every donation, message, and share has reminded us that she isn’t chasing this dream alone.
From our family to yours, thank you for believing in Ella and helping make this incredible opportunity possible. We are forever grateful. 🥹❤️🫶🏽
