Support 17-year-old weightlifter Ella as she represents New Zealand in Samoa and builds toward the Youth World Championships in Columbia!
Hamilton, Waikato
Kia ora and Talofa,
My name is Ella. I’m a 17-year-old weightlifter from Hamilton, and I’m honoured to have been selected by Weightlifting New Zealand to represent New Zealand at international competitions.
This year will be my second time competing internationally, with my next major event being the 2026 Oceania Championships in Samoa (24 April – 3 May). Samoa is part of the build-up for Youth World's Championships held in Colombia in July. These events are an important step in my journey toward competing on the world stage.
Weightlifting has taught me discipline, resilience, and belief in myself. Being selected to compete internationally reflects years of hard work, dedication, and commitment to my sport.
Representing in New Zealand is self-funded at this stage and competing overseas comes with significant costs, including flights, accommodation, transport, meals, travel insurance, uniforms, and competition fees. As a young athlete, these expenses place financial pressure on my family, especially my mum, who supports me every step of the way.
Any support, no matter how small, would mean so much. Your contribution will help cover these essential costs and ease the pressure on my mum, allowing me to focus on training, competing, and representing New Zealand with pride.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for supporting my journey - every donation truly makes a difference ❤️
