Continual earthquakes hitting Lombok since July have taken a heavy toll with an estimated half a million homeless and over 400 dead.

With the continual earthquakes hitting Lombok since late July this has taken a heavy toll. Over 400 dead, thousands injured and over 400,000 homeless. Towns and villages have been demolished and basic aid struggling to get through.
Our quickly formed team of local kindy teachers, drivers, health workers have been supplying bags of rice, dried fish, noodles, blankets and tarpaulins in response to the urgent needs. We have focused on 3 villages where we have friends and family; Nipah; along the coast, Terengan and Kampung B in the mountains.
Now we think... what next?
Lets change those bags of rice to bags of cement and lets start rebuilding.
Please help us.
Our goal is to help continue to start to rebuild the 3 villages where we have been working; Nipa, Terengan and Kampung B. Goals will be re assesed as funds and needs are assesed.
A note from my Mum:
My name is Noreen Shannon and Lombok has been my home for the last 20 years. I have made many friends who are like family there as I promoted good health in the villages. I flew out of Lombok the day before the first earthquake hit but have lived through all the shakes and tremors and destruction with anguish, longing to be back there but knowing we can help from here. My daughter has help me set up this page to raise funds for the villages and families we have been working with and will continue to do so.
My Mum is Noreen Shannon and she lives and works in Lombok, where I also lived as an adolescent and return to visit. The families and villages are close to our families hearts. I am helping my Mum to raise funds so our friends and villages can rebuild.
Money raised will be sent to Yanti and Sur (local health workers) who have already been delivering rice and vegetables to the 3 villages named above from rice villages not yet affected. They have daily access to the continuing needs of the comminuties. As the needs change, we will start to buy cement and trucks of sand to start building foundations of houses in the targeted villages.
Update for beginning of September 11 September 2018
The earthquakes have continued to rock Lombok. The last one was on Friday 31st August and recorded 5.2. Noreen recently talked with Yanti and Yanti was woken at 3am with a long shuddering shake.
This continual battering has taken a heavy toll on houses that were still standing but are now developing cracks and more damage.
The latest estimate is 600 dead and over 500,000 homeless.
Noreen and I want to thank you for the overwhelming generous giving that has enabled my friends to continue to provide.
Noreen is planning to return 18th September to help begin the rebuilding development which seems an unbelievable enermous task but little by little.
Thank you everyone for your continued support and generosity.
