From Fear to Safety — Helping Our Family Build a New Beginning

  • A New Goal & An Important Deadline

      23 August 2026

I’ve updated our Givealittle goal from $12,500 to $10,000 and extended the closing date to 25 October 2026, and I wanted to explain why...

Mom’s property has SOLD! 🎉 However, an unexpected delay with the purchasers’ own property sale means settlement is now likely to happen later than we originally planned.

The timing matters because Mom needs to come to New Zealand to complete the practical Part B of her Level 4 qualification in November. If we can get her here in time, she can complete this important next step before the end of 2026 rather than having to postpone it until next year.

So we’ve made our fundraising goal much more specific.

Our new $10,000 goal will help cover Mom’s Part B course fee, her visa and her flight to New Zealand.

The property is sold and the settlement money is coming — we’re simply trying to bridge the timing gap so that a delay outside of Mom’s control doesn’t delay everything she has worked so hard towards.

We’re SO close now. 🩷 Every donation or share could help us get Mom here in time for November.

Thank you for continuing to support our family’s journey. It means more than you know. 🫶

  • So much has happened since the last update! ❤️

      23 August 2026

It’s been almost a year since my last update and we’ve come SO far since then!

Mom has continued progressing with her studies, and her next major step is completing the practical Part B of her Level 4 qualification here in NZ.

And the biggest news… the property has SOLD! 🥹❤️

This means Mom will have her own funds to put towards her studies, relocation and starting her new life, while hopefully preserving some to eventually help my younger brother study in NZ too.

Unfortunately, we’ve hit an unexpected timing problem.

We understood the purchasers were cash buyers, but their purchase was actually dependent on selling their own property. That sale fell through. Thankfully another buyer has been found, but settlement is now expected at least a month later than planned.

Mom had hoped to come to NZ in October for Part B. We’re now aiming for November, and we really don’t want an unexpected property delay to push this important step into 2027.

The property is sold and the money is coming — it’s simply arriving later than we need it.

That’s why we’re giving this fundraiser another push. Any support now can help bridge that temporary gap towards Part B, flights and getting Mom here in time, while allowing more of her settlement funds to stretch towards everything still ahead for our family.

We are closer than we’ve ever been. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared or supported us along the way. Every little bit truly helps.

  • She did it!!! 🩷

      2 October 2025

I’m beyond excited to share that my mom has now passed both parts of her English exams — listening, reading, writing, and speaking — with flying colours! 🎉

I’m so proud of her and how hard she’s worked to make this dream possible. This is such an important step forward, and it feels amazing to be able to share this progress with all of you who have supported us so far.

The next step is for her to begin her Level 3 studies from South Africa — woohoo!!! 🎓 We are moving forward one milestone at a time, and it’s starting to feel so real.

Thank you all for standing beside us on this journey — your love, encouragement, and generosity mean more than words. 🩷
