  • How donations will be/have been used

      29 November 2017

more than $8000 is in saving account ready for use of in case the cochlear implant gets damaged and will need replacing, or any equipment damaged can use to replace, or one piece or more of item on the cochlear implant such as the Miro, coil, batteries etc gets damaged or need replacing, will use to replace.

the rest of the money i have used to buy a waterproof equipment, where i could hear underwater! such a amazing experience very weird but wow.

the government has finally given me the chance to hear!

I have been approval of funds to get the Cochlear implant, and so far its in process of hearing new sounds and so forth,

but unfortunately the government won't fund for equipment,

I am devastated to receive a rejection letter from Southern Cochlear Implant Programme general manager Neil Heslop - citing underfunding.

He wrote: "The clinicians here appreciate that while your current situation is difficult, and that your request for a funded implant is well supported by those in your community, there are other patients in greater difficulty. On that basis they are given higher priority.

Changing amount now to $62,500 because myself and my team made a mistake, because the 90K was actually for TWO cochlear implants, and I only wanted ONE, so I'm waiting for the amount to be change, and thought to let you guys know that now all i need is $62,500, private operation for a cochlear implant, and apologizes to everyone about that, it was all very confusing and now its clear.

Thank you to everyone who been so supportive and donated to me, including signing the petition,

Good: 20,000 signatures! Bad: my hearing is getting worse

    Danielle Mackay and YesWeCare.nz

JUL 2, 2017 — Thank you so much to everyone who has signed my petition - we have over 20,000 signatures in the first five days which is amazing! I have been overwhelmed with support and have read every single comment.

I do however have some sad news. Hours after starting my petition I had a check up appointment with my audiologist and the test results show my hearing is getting worse faster than expected. After three years on the waiting list, I now probably only have weeks before I am fully deaf. This is so scary to me, and I am already finding my ability to speak deteriorating.

I am getting organised to take my petition to Parliament - one thing you can do is please share it with anyone you know as the more numbers the more chance of winning.

This is not just for me, this is for all the others also on a waitlist whose lives are being impacted like mine.

I really hope that we can show the government that they have got this very wrong and investing in these operations is critical.

    Thanks so much again

    Danielle

  • Use of funds

      4 May 2017

Hi guys, So far i have raised $4,400, it is still not enough to get the cochlear implant that i wanted, so i will hold the donations in the bank savings until more funds come through.

if the government decides to give me the implant, i will kindly use the donations towards waterproof equipment for the implant as its another fundraising process to go through.

      10 March 2017

I made a mistake in accidentally putting the amount $60, when it should be $90,000 for the aim goal
