  • New update from mum

      22 June 2020

I have been in communication with Robert, he is finally getting his head around sustainability of food. He wants to purchase one chicken for eggs, he wants to build his own boat to catch fish (I don't know what this means, it maybe similar to a simplified waka), his brother wants to sell snacks at a stall (the ladies will cook) so that they can get a small income to pay for the rice, milk and medicine, and they will buy some seeds to grow soybeans. This will give them more stability... Thank you, thank you so much for making such a difference for this beautiful family, every bit counts, you have made a difference to this family!

  • Update from Mum

      17 June 2020

    Hi Everyone,

Update on Robert and his beautiful family. Thank you to all of you who have donated, we currently have a total of around $600 so we are on the way to the $1,500 that they need to step out of malnutrition.

Last week Robert went into the jungle for a couple of days to hunt for food. He came home with a couple of birds and a blue snake. He is not a natural hunter, they usually do not go into the jungle as it is dangerous, he is a taxi driver who can climb coconut trees. He, his wife and mother were the only ones to eat the snake. They had never eaten this type of snake before. Robert contacted me in a panic, his mother had become very ill - red spots all over her, weak and difficulty breathing, his wife was the same but was turning blue. The doctors are located 3 hours away. Josh, my son , sourced an Indonesian local herb on google that would help to detoxify the body, I had stated that I am not a doctor. I have since heard that Robert (who had also suffered from a fever) got them to the doctors and that they were improving. I have not had any other updates as he does not have regular access to charge his phone. Luckily the rest of the family had only eaten the birds that he had caught. Currently I do not know how they had been poisoned as the head with the venom had been cut off and the body had been cooked well ,over the fire. Maybe they did not skin it? I am hoping to get another update.

This experience for me has reinforced the fact that we are born here into privileged lifestyles. I now think before I buy something, "do I really need this?" , "ïf not, I can help to support someone like Robert....". I have found it so easy to accumulate 'stuff' on a whim.

Please, please help Robert and his family get through this desperate time which has been created for them by Covid19, due to no fault of their own. Please also share with all your friends. Thank you thank you thank you again again again to all my beautiful family and friends!
