Funding Surgery After Years of Dismissal and Gaslighting by the NZ Medical System

Hi, I’m Kittie - a regular girl who used to live a pretty normal life.

In late 2022, a routine Colposuspension surgery went wrong. A post-op infection that started around the incision, triggered a cascade of septic neurological inflammation and chaos in my pelvis that the New Zealand medical system has since spent years politely ignoring. I was given intravenous antibiotics and a CT scan, but they claimed they found nothing that would cause my symptoms. I gave consent for multiple pudendal nerve blocks under general anaesthesia with these false pretenses.

By accident, 2 years later, I discovered a radiology report with undisclosed proof - giant bilateral intrapelvic Tarlov Cysts that had been inflamed by the infection. This information was withheld from me.

I looked for answers myself but was told "You're taking up bed space from someone else" and "The Neurosurgeon doesn't know why you're wasting his time". No one could be bothered to do proper diagnostics.

Thanks to an international Tarlov Cyst Specialist, I finally received the diagnostic test I needed that showed I had an S2/S3 sacral nerve injury.

Chronic debilitating pain, saddle anaesthesia, incontinence, gastroparesis, PGAD, medical PTSD, sacral nerve dysfunction and bone erosion makes basic daily life a battle.

The system that was supposed to support me has instead left me fighting for every bit of care. There are less than 10 Specialists in the world that understand this surgery but none are in New Zealand.
