Fundraising for a community Defibrillator

Hello to you all,

As you may or may not have seen in the chronicle, we at iRepair and Gadgets are in the process of fundraising for a Defibrillator to be installed at our shop for community use.

Why do we need a Defibrillator you say?

1. Each year more than 2,000 New Zealanders will suffer a cardiac arrest outside of hospital

2. For 72% of cardiac arrests a bystander will perform CPR

3. People may show no warnings or prior symptoms prior to cardiac arrest

4. Use of a defibrillator within 3-5 min of collapse can increase the chance of survival by up to 44%.

Do we know how to use a Defibrillator?

Yes we do. Our staff have over 19 year’s experience in the Volunteer firefighter role, using Defibrillator and applying emergency first aid.
