Funds for the Cusi Family from Christchurch

$3,100 of $5,000 goal
Given by 53 generous donors in 4 weeks

House fire destroys all personal possessions of the Cusi Family and we want to help them to move forward and restart their lives.

Linwood, Christchurch

On Wednesday, 18 January, a family of five and members of the Filipino Community in Linwood, Christchurch lost their rented house and valued possessions due to a tragic fire. The three boys, 18, 14 and 10 were all home that day and was able to get out safely.

The Cusi family is grateful with all the care, concern, support, and the eagerness to help from friends, the Filipino Community, colleagues, strangers and even individuals from social media.

As a close friend, I know how Jolly and Larry, a hardworking couple, are working extra hours to save money to send their eldest to University of Otago who will soon study medicine.

The family doesn’t have insurance that will help recuperate their lost. This Give a Little page was set-up in an effort to assist them financially with the significant cost to re-establish their lives.

A New Home for Cusi Family  8 February 2023

We are happy to tell everyone that the Cusi Family is now on their new rental home.

They moved in last week and grateful to have met a good samaritan. He offered them his house through a direct message on Facebook.

It is a great blessing for them and a huge relief. It was a tough situation but the help from Jolly’s employer and a family friend gave them a roof to sleep in for a few weeks.

They’ve been on the road everyday for two weeks, viewing rental homes and sending applications. The tough competition made it harder for them to secure a home right away.

As of the moment, kids are back on the same school and thankfully, the house is in the same suburb, Linwood. Jolly prayed that they won’t need to change schools because she knows that it would be easier for her kids to move on if they will be with their current friends. That’s why the house is a blessing for them.

Lastly, we want to thank the overwhelming support we received from everyone. We decided to extend the page for another week and try to reach our goal.

We would appreciate if you could share the link to your friends. Thank you and we hope that blessings will return ten fold to everyone.
