Gandalf has chosen a trial by jury. His next appearance at court will be on 1/9/26 where a date will be set for the start of his trial which we believe will be sometime in 2028. Thank you so much to everyone for all of your love, beautiful words, donations and support 💚
Last week, Gandalfs lawyer stood before the Judge on Gandalf’s behalf. The matter has now been adjourned to the 10th of June 2026 at 11:45 AM, Gandalf's attendance is required. During this June appearance, we will formally confirm our path forward—whether we take these charges to trial or proceed directly to sentencing.
From the bottom of our hearts, Gandalf and our entire family want to thank you. The overwhelming wave of love and support streaming in from our local community, across the nation, and around the world has humbled us, even bringing tears to our eyes at times reading the comments. We are deeply grateful.
There is no denying that this journey has been unsettling and profoundly stressful. On top of this legal battle, Gandalf continues to fight through the grueling pain of shingles.
None the less, Rome was not built in a day and you can't expect change without getting uncomfortable.
So, we hold our heads high. We lift our chins. We stand tall, unbroken, and united, together, we remind the world that our voices are powerful, and unwavering.
Update since the January court date:
Gandalf’s defence team has requested further testing on several of the evidential samples to determine the levels of THC present. Because of this, the judge has set a long monitoring date of 13 May 2026. Gandalf has been excused from attending court in the meantime.
He remains deeply grateful for the incredible support he has received from everyone. This has been an extremely challenging period for all of us, and the ongoing stress of the case has even caused Gandalf to develop shingles. We’re holding onto hope that this won’t drag on for another year and that justice will finally prevail.
A further monitoring appearance is scheduled for Gandalf on the 21st of January.
Gandalf has started rebuilding his polyhouses that were destroyed during the raid on his property to grow food for the food banks and community. Tuesday (8/7/25) Gandalf appeared in the Whangarei District Courthouse for the 3rd time to hear Police present the list of evidence against him.
However, again the Police were not ready to present their list of evidence to Gandalfs lawyer and the court so once again its been deferred, until 16th October.
Gandalf was so appreciative of all those who came to stand beside him and wants to extend a thank you to you all 💚
This Tuesday 13th May at 11.45am our wonderful Green Fairy Gandalf will be appearing in the Whangarei District Courthouse to hear further charges.
These charges under the outdated Misuse of Drugs Act 2975 are relating to the raid on his property on 25th February this year and the confiscating of his illicit cannabis products destined for patients all over Aotearoa NZ.
We ask all those who wish to support Gandalf and can make it, to turn up in your Green outfits with your placards, banners and 'noisemakers' (aka drums, whistles etc) to stand in solidarity with Gandalf on what will be a stressful day for him and us, his family.
We ask that you are respectful to the environment and the general public and to gather outside the Courthouse to raise awareness and create a media moment to further publicise the plight of Gandalf, our family and patients plus the many others in our community who suffer the same injustice.
