The Helen Anderson Trust Veggie Garden
Christchurch, Canterbury
We created our veggie garden so that clients could learn some skills that will help them grow their own garden at home and learn some work skills too.
Our guys and gals love gardening, they love being outside and working as a team, seeing things that they planted grow into food and experience the joy of helping others when they distribute excess produce in the community.
It was created on land that has been donated to us for up to 5 years and was set up with funding from the RATA Foundation. We are wanting to raise some money to cover overheads such as plants, seeds, an irrigation system and some more raised beds and fuel for the vans to shuttle people to nd from the garden, which is in Burnside, from our base in Shirley.
The Helen Anderson Trust in Christchurch provides a support service for adults with intellectual disabilities.
We work with individuals to provide opportunities that reflect their interests as well as helping them to achieve personal goals.
Plants, seeds, an irrigation system, more garden tools and some more raised beds. The target is just a target, if we don't meet the target amount, we will still be able to spend what we do raise on the garden and every dollar will make a difference.
