Give a little to Carlos and gain insight to pain control.

  • Money transferred to Carlos successfully!

    A big thank you from Carlos and his family in Cuba to everyone that donated. Carlos received the money a few weeks ago. International transfers into Cuba are no easy task and each year seem to be getting more tricky! Anyway with the help of a friend in Florida we managed it and now Carlos and his family are looking forward to an easier Christmas.

    Carlos now has four elderly family members living under his care, one with a fractured hip that is waiting for surgery. In NZ we often grumble about the wait times for surgery for joint replacements, but at least if we fracture something the surgery is usually pretty quick. In Cuba this is not the case, they have to wait several weeks or more, as Cuba does not have easy access to the prosthetics. (Hopefully it’s quicker and easier than transferring money into the country!)

    I have decided to keep the Givealittle page open for anyone that wants to contribute, and in 2023 I will be sending more funds to this family… I will also be doing another Pain Talk, so if you are interested keep an eye out for future posts https://www.facebook.com/acuphysio.co.nz?mibextid=LQQJ4d

    Thank you to everyone that has donated and came last night. Hopefully, you all found the talk interesting and learned some interesting facts as well as having the odd laugh.

    To date, the donations have reached $2000 with the extra cash donations received at the talk and since, which is fantastic.

    I have had a few issues with getting the money to Carlos but have found a way to get it to him at last, he will receive the money very soon.

    I am going to leave this page open and any future money received will be forwarded to Carlos and his family. So if there is anyone that still wants to donate that hasn't yet, then please go ahead.

  • Hurricane Ian Hit Cuba on 27th September 2022

    Things have got even worse for them since Hurricane Ian hit their country on the 27th of September. As I am writing this they have been without electricity for 5 days, have no clean water, and their home has been badly damaged.

    If you were in Christchurch during the Earthquakes, then I am sure that you will recall how you felt. It was a desperate time for many of us.

    This Hurricane hit the Cuban people when Cuba was already struggling and it struck the whole country. I had been planning this fundraiser before the Hurricane hit.
