Help get the NYT team to the Wellington Shakespeare festival
Whangarei, Northland
After entering the regional Sheilah Winn Shakespeare festival regionals for the first time, NYT's team has been selected to go to the finals in Wellington! woohoo!!
Under the guidance of young director Rose McKenzie this team of 6 young performers aged 15 and 16 have done an incredible job of creating a 15 minute piece of scenes from Shakespeare's brutal play Titus Andronicus. The cast made up of Haydon Fraser, Ciara Elliot, Ashleen Soper, Finn McKenzie, Ursula MacReady and Sorcha Tracey have played their way through scenes of Shakespeares first tragedy and have pulled it off with nuance, simplicity, passion and grit.
With the win, though, comes the hurdle of getting from one end of the island to the other so that these young people can perform alongside their peers from around the country. Not only will they perform with the opportunity to compete nationally they will also have a huge amount of learning opportunities through workshops and classes facilitated by the SGCNZ.
Please help us get this young team down to Wellington for this epic experience that will build skills and lifelong memories alike. If you can give even just a little we would be so very grateful, and you can know that you are helping support these young performers grow and thrive through this experience.
For 30 years NYT has been providing an outlet for the performing talents of young people in Northland. We continue to provide training 3 times a week and stage regular full scale performances. We ensure the students get the very best training by working with a variety of dedicate professionals.
All funds will go towards transport, accomodation and catering for the team
