Get Bob Independently Mobile

Bob is reliant on others for lifts, or to push his wheelchair, to get around after his stroke. We'd like to get him independently mobile.

Canterbury

After Bob's stroke in September 2015 we're down to one income, and increased medical expenses, which leaves little opportunity to save for much-needed driveway modifications or other mobility options. We need to seal the driveway and / or buy a mobility scooter to allow Bob more independent access to the community and to teach local classes without relying on others. Suitable mobility scooters start at around $4000 and the driveway quotes are coming in at over $20,000, but can be reduced by just sealing a strip rather than the whole drive. Unfortunately, none of these costs are covered by any available funding. Any assistance to bring this closer to reality would be appreciated.

As Bob's partner, and primary care giver, I work from home and support Bob as much as I can - but have limited time to provide transport since I work full-time as well as part-time on weekends. Any Assistance to help seal the driveway for easier independent wheeling and walking access, or towards a mobility scooter would provide Bob with much-needed independence and mobility and the ability to continue doing what he loves - imparting his martial arts knowledge.
