Help Get Piimio to The Rock!

  • I'm Going to The Rock!!!

      20 May 2015

We got there! Can you believe it! Mum and I are exhausted but so happy :) Our goal reached with so many people's help - friends and strangers who care so much about a kid's dream xx

The last four months has been an incredible rollercoaster of hard work and happiness, worry and surprise, being scared and feeling on top of the world. All you wonderful people have given me so much faith in human beings, and hope for the future that we can help each other to achieve great things - I'm a different person from this fundraising experience :)

Thank you, thank you, thank you! And watch this space - I'm gonna make you all proud xx

  • Unexpected Expenses re Visa

      19 May 2015

Poor Mum has been driven crazy by the complicated process to obtain my US Visa - and it's costing way more than she thought! The call centre can't give you advice and she's read the website over and over lol Finally she got it sorted over the weekend, and it's going to use up at least $500 of our kitty towards my living expenses in Philly.

Applicants have to have a face-to-face interview at the Consulate, even if you're a non-immigrant, like me. That means we have to do a 24 hour fly up and back during the week. We managed to get an appointment for June 3, so we're praying that still gives them plenty of time to finalise my Visa - nail-biting stuff! No wonder Mum's a wreck. I was sad she couldn't just relax over the weekend and enjoy the heart-warming response to our Seven Sharp spot on Friday xx

  • Almost there!

      16 May 2015

Wow, what a lot of kind, generous and caring people we have in Aotearoa/NZ! Mum and I are amazed at the wonderful support you've given me over the past 24 hours :) You've contributed a total of $3300 to my cause! Thank you xx

There was a time in my life when I really wondered if people cared about each other much. Now I know that enough of us do - you've renewed my belief in the essential goodness of human beings, and our ability to help each other achieve great things. It's hard for me to properly express how grateful I am to you all xx

  • Seven Sharp interview

      12 May 2015

Seven Sharp is doing a spot on me! They love it that I am a Mechanical Engineering student by day, and a ballerina by night haha

Every ballerina has to have a back-up career :) I love doing things with my hands as well as my feet =D But ballet is my No.1 love xx

It was really scarey thinking of being on TV, but the guys were really nice and helped me relax, so I think it will come out all right. I guess it will be on in the next couple of days - look out for me :)

Oh, and thank you to my FB friends - and my big bro in Aus, Robert's FB friends - who have made donations to my Givealittle page :) All the contributions are gradually getting me to the USA!

  • I'm halfway to Philadelphia!

      12 May 2015

Thanks to whanau and friends, Baha'i friends and early donations to Givealittle, I can't believe it, but we have raised nearly $5000 towards the $9000 I need to go to The Rock!

The Potiki-Moses whanau and friends, and my older brothers and whanau, helped us hold a hangi that raised nearly $1800. My retired mentor friend, Graham, has guaranteed my flights with money he raises from small accounting jobs, and the little catering events etc Mum and I do have added up to about $1400 so far.

So, we're paying the $3000 fees to The Rock this week, yes! And we have also started the visa process! It's amazing - thank you so much everyone xo
