Helping Sammy to fulfill her dream of going to Japan
Bay of Plenty
Ever since I can remember Sammy has been passionate about Japan, its people and its culture. She taught herself the Japanese language, and speaks it well enough to converse with Japanese students, here on a school exchange program
She has also taught herself Hiragana and Katakana, which are the scripts in which the Japanese language is written
She has longed to be part of an exchange program to experience Japanese life, culture, food, language and yes even school.
As a single Parent, dreams of this expense are unattainable, which is a heartbreaking situation for any parent.
After a lengthy search she has found an exchange program that, with some help, will be achievable and Sammy will finally realise her dream
The exchange program, "Lets Homestay", is run locally in the suburb of Greerton, Tauranga, (http://letshomestay.com/labo/), and is reported to be an amazing experience for young adults. Speaking with the Business Proprietors, there is furthermore, opportunities to pursue 12 month work experience positions within the Lets Stay/ Labo, should Sammy enjoy the initial Homestay experience, after her final year at school
It is her intention to do just that, before returning home to start a university degree, majoring in languages, to fulfill her intentions of becoming a Linguist, and again, heading off to Japan
I'm Sammy's Mother. I am responsible for the fundraising and paying the bills associated with this trip
I am a single parent with two other children. I work long hours to provide the best I can for them.
Their needs are met, but their wants, they take a number and form an orderly queue.
Luxuries such as a bedroom each, overseas trips, up to date technology etc are just that, luxuries
Thank you both so very much xxx
