AVCA represents vapers (people who use e-cigarettes) in New Zealand. Our mission: Inform, Educate, Advocate for Tobacco Harm Reduction.
Nationwide
AVCA would like to attend, as the NZ consumer representative body, the Global Forum on Nicotine that is being held in Warsaw, Poland in June 2017. This is an international conference on alternative nicotine products with a focus on Tobacco Harm Reduction. There are sessions on science, policy and consumer advocacy.
We attended last year and gained much knowledge on THR and technology as well as built our networks amongst the consumer advocacy movement internationally that have helped us here with our work in New Zealand.
All funds not used will be returned into the general AVCA operating fund.
As the Director of AVCA, I attended the GFN16 last year and found it to be most beneficial to the work we do here in New Zealand. It would benefit New Zealand if we could once again send someone to attend the consumer advocacy sessions and the scientific presentations to keep abreast of current trends in tobacco harm reduction in our role as advisors to the community and the government.
AVCA - we educate the public and any interested party regarding e-cigarettes - what we do, why we do it and how to best utilise them to switch from combustible tobacco. Our mission is to Inform, Educate and Advocate for Tobacco Harm Reduction.
Our most recent efforts have been geared towards mentoring smokers towards vaping and providing information, education and assistance to smoking cessation providers countrywide, free of charge. We have also provided the government with scientific information, peer reviewed research and links to experts and recent, objective information on e-cigarettes and vaping.
Information is key. Knowledge is power. We are about empowering people to make choices based on recent, scientific information combined with the anecdotal experiences of those who have successfully made the switch from combustible tobacco to e-cigarettes.
The funds raised will be used to pay for conference registration ($400NZ), airfare ($2000NZ), travel insurance ($200), hotel ($800NZ) and a per diem of $100NZ per day (x 4 days) for food for the AVCA representative who attends the conference.
All of the totals above are based on current exchange rates hence the 200+/- variation
