Girls Skate NZ needs a van!

Girls Skate NZ is a Skateboarding School for girls offering various classes throughout skateparks in Auckland. At present, we are also currently holding inschool skateboarding lessons in West Auckland.

Our aim is to provide a safe and friendly environment for our tamariki to learn the correct technique and ettiequte to skateboarding. Whilst sharing the passion and love, for such a unique and self expressive activity.

Skateboarding helps to increase confidence, determination, balance, cardiovascular stamina, coordination, creative freedom and spatial awareness / reaction speed.

At the moment we are currently holding free lessons for girls and boys at 3 different schools in West Auckland. Each class has almost 30 students attend, which requires us to transport 30 skateboards, helmets and sets of safety gear to each school.

With our classes at the skatepark, we also offer a free class with free gear hire. With a van it will mean we will be able to transport more equipment to these classes also, creating opportunities for more students to get involved.

At present, skateboarding is not hugely accessible to children to learn with only one other skate school running throughout the wider Auckland vicinity. Girls Skate NZ will provide more opportunities for children to become involved in the already growing sport, and help other young skateboarders improve their skills.

Our classes allow children to learn the basics of skateboarding in a warm, friendly and safe environment. We currently run 4 classes per week at various parks, and also run 3 after school classes at lower decile schools, to try and make it convenient for children who otherwise may find it difficult to access areas where they can participate in the activity.

By having a van and being able to transport more students from school, we take away the cost and travel barriers, therefore making the sport more accessible.

Since June 2018 we have been inspiring females of all ages throughout Auckland to learn how to skate and meet new friends. We’ve held classes, female only skateboarding competitions and various other events throughout Auckland. But now the classes have grown significantly since we started out, which is why we are raising money for a van, which would allow us to transport more skateboards, ramps, safety gear & even students!

Having a van will allow us to transport such items to various schools and locations throughout Auckland, benefitting 100s of our tamariki.

During the school holidays we run school holiday programs, where we take a group of girls out to various skateparks for the whole day, coaching them and getting them outside and active in the sun. Currently we are only able to take 4 girls per day, with such high demand for spots - a van would mean we could take more girls out for the day.
